Flying to Nanwalek
These are some pictures I took on one of my work trips to Nanwalek, a Native village down around the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. You can see that it was in the fall and early winter. A pretty flight when the weather's nice, and who else gets to see whales on their commute?
Leaving Homer, we fly over the Homer Spit.
Looking across Kachemak Bay toward Tutka Bay.
The village is on the hill right before the strip of beach.
Banking to make the airstrip.
The beach airstrip (alarmingly short)
Here's the Nanwalek international airport.
And Zach, the Homer Air pilot.
